The Life and Times of Allen South
This is my 15th year teaching and Bullitt Central. This year I teach US Government and Dual Credit Education classes through the University of Louisville, I have also taught World Civilizations, Advanced Placement World Civilizations, United States History, AP GOPO, and Law and Justice in the past. I spent my college years at the University of Louisville where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and one in History. I returned to UofL to get my Master’s Degree in Teaching.
Before I taught high school, I financed loans at Republic Bank and Trust in Louisville Kentucky. That job required quite a bit of traveling and I grew to hate being away from home so much…so I decided to teach.
When I was in high school I had many great teachers but one in particular left a lasting impression. Jim Grant, my Algebra teacher was an amazing teacher and person; he was quick with a joke and ready to make anyone feel better anytime. Mr. Grant was also an awesome teacher who would find many ways to help me understand algebra. I have tried to emulate Mr. Grant in my teaching career.
My home life is pretty ordinary. I have two great children Jackson (9) and Elizabeth (7). Most of my evenings are spent playing with my children or in the fall watching college football. (GO CARDS) I love hiking, or most anything outdoors as long as it is not swimming, SOUTHS SINK!
